Selfless Love--Not Material Gain

Unfortunately, the United States all too frequently has let the world think that its chief accomplishments are material. We must correct this misunderstanding by realizing that the United States--or any other country--is truly great only in its pursuit of selfless accomplishments such as its caring for its poor and sick.

Only as we judge our growth by selfLess love--instead of selfish material gain--are we truly great. What our country needs today are those who put selfless love first. We must realize that there is a new demand upon us. We cannot continue to live in the old materialistic way. Ease in matter must be replaced by diligent, selfless love.

We must realize that our nation--and we as its citizens--should exist as outward symbols of the Love which is God; and we should realize that this Love which is God, demands, not necessarily material growth, but growth in selfless love itself.
