Defining Love

From time to time I am asked to define the word love. It is not easy to define the word love because almost everyone has a different thought about it. But simply stated, love is caring more for another than we care for ourself.

Love is not so much something which we talk about as it is something we think and do, such as loving thoughts and loving deeds. Love is having respect for another because we see that of God in another, enabling us to give of ourselves in service to another. Love is life lived in obedience to the divine Force which is divine Love. Love is not only expressing such qualities as tenderness and thoughtfulness, but it is also expressing the strong qualities of courage and conviction. Love is the greatest gift we can ever give or receive. Love is expressing God to the fullness.
