Does it sometimes seem that you have nowhere to go for love, solace, health or some other human needs? If such be your case, listen to these words written by the one whose birthday we celebrate this week. He said,

"I have been driven many times to my knees by the overwhelming conviction that I had nowhere else to go. My own wisdom and that of all about me seemed insufficient for the day."

In this passage, President Lincoln tells what he did when he had nowhere else to go. He prayed. When our own human wisdom--and the human wisdom of those about us--seems insufficient, we, like Lincoln, should pray. In prayer we should realize that we are one with Divinity and, therefore, we have the wisdom which passeth all human understanding.

Enlightened prayer is the active recognition of our oneness with divine wisdom. Such wisdom is available to guide and guard us. Such wisdom is available to provide us with what we need to express selfless love. Such wisdom is available to us through prayer, and it prompts to love others, even our enemies.
