Greater Weapons or Spiritual Wisdom?

It seems so easy to despise that which we should respect or to refuse to hear the words of God-given wisdom. Today, we build greater and greater weapons of destruction, failing to heed--and often despising--the wisdom which tells us that such weapons cannot bring genuine protection.

In the Bible, the writer of the Book of Ecclesiastes tells us of a little town with virtually no defense and that there were only a "few men within it." This little town was besieged by a great king. But there was wisdom in that town in the presence of a "poor wise man" who "by his wisdom delivered the city."

Like today, we are told that "the poor man's wisdom is despised, and his words are not heard." The Bible writer assures us that "Wisdom is better than strength" and "wisdom is better than weapons of war."

God gives you wisdom, and individually acted upon, offers true protection from the curse of war. Then peace can start with just one individual who has the wisdom to know that true defense is always found in selfless, God-given love, actively thought, lived and shared with others. W.
