Singer/songwriter Kate MacLeod was a Utah violin-maker, but became a performer when push came to shove. The fiddle/violin is her special instrument among the other instruments she plays, but my favorite is her voice. Catholic raised, Quaker at present, shes a story-teller, a folk singer, a blue grass virtuoso.

Nichola Torbett is National Organizer for the Network of Spiritual Progressives (NSP). She conveyed powerfully the vision of NSP as she spoke in Eau Claire on October 19, 2006, helping crystalize the formation of a local chapter, here in the Chippewa Valley.

The NSP is the creative child of Rabbi Michael Lerner and a potential home and umbrella for a diverse assortment of religious and non-religious participants who are concerned for a better, more progressive, world. Nichola does an excellent job of stirring the imagination and raising up hope and direction - a must to hear!

John Lamoreau - Waging Peace/Biblical Pacifism

John Lamoreau has a Master of Arts in Peace Studies and is the co-author of Waging Peace: A Study In Biblical Pacifism, written 26 years ago with about 25 reprintings since then. John is an Evangelical Friend/Quaker, with deep concern for faithfulness to Jesus and to the life Jesus directed that we live. He has the peculiar distiction of being perhaps the only avowed pacifist to be endorsed by the National Rifle Association. He now has a web site The Jesus Gospel highlighting his concern for a faithful Christianity.

John is an Oregon Republican, something a bit different from Republicans in different states. He is thoroughly pro-life, in terms of abortion, war and capital punishment. He is gentle, thoughtful, and incisive Christian - soon looking for a job as the "pacifist smear" against him narrowly cost him his position as county commissioner.

He has also co-authored a couple of other peace-related writings, including a contribution for the Handbook on Military Taxes and Conscience. He is happy to communicate with all who would like to dialog on this issue and you can reach him via his email address.

Harold Koenig is vitally interested in studying the relationship be religious faith/practice and healing, both mentally and physical and has led more than 25 studies documenting an astonishing correlation between religious devotion and health. He is the founder of the Center for Spirituality, Theology and Health at Duke University Medical Center.

Harold started out as a registered nurse, became an medical doctor, then a psychiatrist and a biostatistician. He is a Professor of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences and an Associate Professor of Medicine at Duke University Medical Center.

Annie Patterson is a thorough music lover, maker and sharer. She and her husband, Peter Blood, are the creators of Rise Up Singing, the group singing songbook which has sold over 1 million copies.
